A Pre-School Day

Everyday at pre-school is different!  We offer lots of new learning opportunities and exciting activities for the children to explore.  We follow a flexible daily routine: 
Breakfast Club - 8am to 9am

Children needing to be dropped off to pre-school early can arrive at anytime after 8am, there are opportunities to free play inside and out.  Depending on each child's morning routine, breakfast (or a fruit snack) can be served.

Morning Session - 9am to 12pm

Each morning children are welcomed into pre-school and spend time exploring the indoor and outdoor play spaces.  We run a small group 'circle time' during each session, this is done in small groups and adapted to the developmental stage of the children.  Children choose their own resources and taking part in activities that they would like to join in with.  A healthy mid morning snack is served.  The morning session is finished with a shared story. 

Lunchtime - 12pm to 12.30pm

Lunchtimes are a relaxed, social time where children eat together at the table and engage in conversations with their friends and teachers.  Good manners and positive eating habits are encouraged and healthy choices are celebrated. 

Afternoon Session - 12.30 to 3.30pm

The afternoon session follows the same pattern as the morning.  Children have chance to revisit the activities they were engaged with during the morning to further develop their skills and expand their knowledge. After the afternoon group times and a story,  we finish the pre-school day by reflecting on what we have enjoyed exploring during the day.  

Weekly Activities & Experiences

We have a variety of different activities on at pre-school each week.  These may include nature walks, visiting the allotments, forest school, yoga, sports, music and movement and lots more!  These may be planned and linked to our topic and theme, or may be spontaneous in response to the children's current interests (for example, if the children noticed a squirrels collecting acorns from the neighbouring oak tree we might head out for a local walk to see how many more we can spot!) 

Parents are kept informed about what's on at pre-school via our online communication tool Tapestry, regular newsletters and our private Facebook group.  We also have a daily communications board which we write up for parents to see at collection time explaining all about our day.
