At preschool we use an online learning journal and communication tool called Tapestry. We use this system to:
- share experiences and WOW moments of each child's time at preschool
- record observations of the children’s learning at preschool
- regularly share information and updates with families
- suggest next steps and share ideas for further learning, both at home and preschool
- create summative assessments of the children progress every term
- enable parents to share learning and special moments from home
- create a record of the children's learning journey at preschool
- generate and send invoices to enable parents to manage payments
- communicate important information, newsletters and updates
- and lots more!
The team use iPads to record information about children’s learning and development, we take photos, videos and add notes to record children’s WOW moments and achievements in the moment. These are them securely uploaded to Tapestry. Parents and carers then receive an email notification so they can securely login to view observation via their individual login details and password. Parents are encouraged to also upload pictures and comments to their child’s online profile, which helps to build effective relationships between key persons and families.
Each term we create a summative assessment for every child, this provides a summary of a child’s learning and development for that term. It allows us to celebrate their progress, outline next steps and identify if there are any areas of learning that the child needs further support with. This is shared at a parents/carers appointment with your child's key person.
